"We have chosen Ghana as our gateway as through our research we have found that it boasts a stable and growing economy," says Sarah Nelson, an official from the company.

Parts Trader has been operating in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Spain, and Germany since the year 1991, acting as an agent between car owners searching for parts for their vehicles and car parts providers.

    Changing the industry

The company says in a report issued in an email last week to ProGhana.com that it aims to bring a dramatic change in the way the automotive industry gets on with buying and selling car parts in Ghana.

As an online directory available through diverse means across the country, customers in Ghana who are in need of locating a car part, will need to complete an application form specifying the part they are looking for.

Parts Trader says it is looking forward to having "coverage in over 60% of the African continent" within five years.
