Denise Roodt is an experienced businesswoman, media educator, training provider, content producer and entrepreneur.
Career milestones include:
- Owning and managing The Media Workshop (www.themediaworkshop.co.za), a multi award-winning media production and training company
- Bringing AFDA, a leading private higher education institution, to Nelson Mandela Bay and serving as Campus Dean and Registrar of the Port Elizabeth campus from 2015 to 2017
- Achieving international recognition for her social entrepreneurship initiatives in Nelson Mandela Bay, when she was featured as a success story in a 2012 publication of the International Labour Organisation's Women's Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
- Publishing Zithethele, a Xhosa community newspaper for Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounds, which won five MDDA Sanlam community media awards between 2010 and 2012
- Co-ordinating the journalism degree and diploma programmes at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa
- Serving as deputy programme leader of the BA inMedia, Communication and Culture at the former University of Port Elizabeth, as well as curriculating the media components of the qualification
- Working internationally as a television news correspondent for the South Africa Broadcasting Corporation
