John Reinders
I am an alumnus of UCT with a postgraduate in marketing management. I am a highly efficient communicator specialising in Web-content writing and business communication. I am ready to take on a position that would allow me to incorporate everything I have attained through my studies and my varied work experience. I am equally comfortable working on my own or in a team environment with an eye to getting the task on hand completed.
Upon completion of my Bachelors degree at UCT I was employed at Old Mutual Direct as a client consultant. I gained skills in client service, sales and working in a sophisticated call centre environment. I left Old Mutual to take a job at Johannesburg based netsurit as an IT consultant to further my interest and knowledge of technology. I learnt everything required from building a PC to installation and networking installation and maintenance.
It is at netsurit that I started getting involved in marketing and business development. I utilised my contact centre experience and set up an outbound call centre to "survey" potential clients and offer them a free IT audit. The respondents were hosted at a seminar at Microsoft and many were signed on to service agreements.
The following year I completed my postgraduate marketing studies at UCT before taking a job as the GM for luxury-tourism Website, www.capevillas.com. We rented out villa accommodation to VIP clientele mainly from the UK. I grew the Website's brand through an integrated online strategy involving link exchanges, search engine optimisation & pay per click campaigns. From a logistics standpoint I oversaw the sales/bookings team and all matters relating to the "luxcat limos" luxury car and limousine hire service.
In 2006 I joined Topco Media as a national account coordinator. The role involved closing deals with senior directors at the top national companies in South Africa. I gained invaluable experience in dealing with blue chip clients in boardrooms across the country.
In 2007 I was approached by the Navarrese Group to head up their sales and business development. I was charged with marketing Cape Town as an offshoring destinatioin to European businesses. I employed and trained staff locally to provide a host of telephonic services including research, sales, appointment setting and all manner of back-office functions.
The UK owners closed the business down as a result of the recession and I took a contract with Simplicité, a Johannesburg based IT company that developed and sold Microsoft business solutions. My key focus was to generate leads by developing the company's brand. I developed an online presence through the creation and marketing of their new Web site, email-marketing, direct mailing and telephonic campaigns.
Since then I have worked in Commercial property and office automation but my goal is to get back into the marketing workspace.
I am a self motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure. Whilst I am an excellent team player, I am comfortable working completely independently without supervision. My professionalism, organizational and communication skills are of an excellent standard as shown in my written and business presentations.
I find myself in a position now where I am looking for a challenging position that would allow me to incorporate all the skills that I have acquired in sales, marketing and technology.
