Madi Hanekom is a business writer, project manager, executive coach and mentor with over 25 years of experience in the corporate, government and private sector.
Madi Hanekom has a proven track record of over 20 years in project management of multi-billion rand projects in inter alia the Development Infrastructure sector, Education and Training sector, Public-Private Partnerships, Telecommunications sector, Social Housing sector and Aviation sector.
Madi has a B Comm degree and Diploma in Secondary Education from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa), as well as a B Comm Honors (Economics) degree and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Pretoria (South Africa). She also has a certificate in magazine journalism from the SA Writers' College (with distinction).
She has extensive experience in working with a wide range of clients covering the public sector (central, provincial and local government levels), private sector, NGO's and tertiary education and training institutions in South Africa and SADC. Madi has operated within multi-cultural work environments, nationally, internationally and in SADC.
Madi specialises in project management, as well as the coaching and mentoring of individuals at management level and other key positions within organisations, focusing on the achievement of specific career goals and capacity building in pre-determined areas related to required work outcomes. She has a successful track record of coaching and mentoring in Government, Corporate as well as NGO environments. Whilst employed at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) she was also involved in developing a mentorship programme for DBSA staff and personally mentored selected individuals. As a consultant, Madi in general places strong emphasis on creating opportunities for capacity building for key middle management staff within the client institutions for which she undertakes projects, in order to build the internal skills and understanding of these individuals relating to the projects being undertaken.
Since 2010, Madi has also been a freelance journalist with published articles and stories on a range of subjects in various magazines and newspapers and serves on the national executive of the Southern African Freelancers' Association (Safrea).
