I have experience working as an intern in the Information Services Department at the National Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) in Pretoria. At present I am working as a Communications Officer for a health research company based in Sunninghill. The company specialises in key population HIV/Aids and communicable diseases research. It collaborates with various nonprofit organisations, leading universities and the Department of Health working in disadvantaged communities. It is funded by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
My role is to create, implement and execute communication strategies and techniques within the company. One of my primary tasks is to communicate with stakeholders through various channels including conducting presentations, public speaking, social media, the company website and the media. I also create and design high quality communications material for distribution. My three years' experience working as a PR and Social Media Specialist ensures my work is always near perfect. I pay attention to detail. It is important for each program to run within set time-frames. My time management skills and my ability to work well under pressure ensures deadlines are met on time.
I pride myself in my reporting skills, providing in-depth progress reports on achievements, challenges and growth opportunities for each program on a weekly and monthly basis to the senior management. I am good at organising and planning funder/stakeholder/media site visits. As well as writing, editing and translating communications material for events and press briefings.
I am confident my dynamic character and ambition to grow is well suited for working in a dynamic environment. I have a very good work ethic. I take initiative and have self drive. I am constantly developing new ways of working smarter. I thrive working independently or as part of a team. I am a firm believer in life long learning and will continuously advance my knowledge.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. If I am offered this position, I will be ready to hit the ground running and assist your company to exceed its own expectations for success.
