Hi. My name is Zaheer Sarang. I studied Animation and Design and achieved an Advanced Diploma in animation at the City Varsity School of Media and Art. I have a passion for art and the creative world and wish to pursue a career in the movie or entertainment industry. I spend my time thinking of new ideas and ways to diversify myself within the industry and another avenue I wish to take is script or novel writing. I feel like there are worlds to explore and opportunities to be had out there.
I have spent the last three years as a designer at an events company largely known around the world and responsible for major events and brand management. GL Events is a French owned events company with a subdivision here in South Africa. I have designed for a wide array of brands and recently with the Covid-19 breakout I assisted in designing the pop-up hospital that was erected in Nasrec to house patients recovering from the virus. Not only that but I assisted the French department in designing hospitals that would be erected in places around Africa and out of Africa. Mainly Indonesia and Eurasia. I was forced to adapt to uncharted territory and with our backs to the wall we managed to deliver on that which was completely unfounded and an all new experience.
What I learned is that I am able to learn on the fly and adapt to new works. Within the events company I was tasked with learning entirely new software in a matter of a month which I managed to do within a week in order to aid in catching up with the demand of work. In 2019, having been a year with GL Events I achieved an award for one of my designs at the EXSA awards of South Africa.
With this in mind I feel I need to grow and change my environment and I know I can work well with inspired and creative teammates. I feel it is time to expand on my work profile and move onto bigger and better things and I know that I have the capacity to adapt and overcome any challenges I am faced with.
